Spondylolisthesis occurs when one vertebra slips over another, causing pain. This most commonly occurs in the lower back and is generally due to degenerative spinal disease. Spondylolisthesis is classified as dysplastic, isthmic, traumatic, degenerative, or pathological. Since degenerative cases are the most prevalent, spondylolisthesis typically affects older adults.
